Joo Joo (Crunch Pad) Tablet PC
This Tablet PC has a very interesting story. Tech Crunch, another tech company contracted Fusion Garage to build them a tablet PC called the Crunch Pad but the deal broke apart and Fusion Garage has relaunched it as the Joo Joo.
The JooJoo runs on a custom OS that was developed by Fusion Garage, the OS will boot directly to the home screen which contains icons with direct links to a range of sites, like YouTube, Hulu, Gmail, Twitter, Facebook and lots more.
Featuring a 12.1 inch capacitive touchscreen display that boasts a 1366 x 768 resolution, the Fusion Garage Joo Joo can boot in about 9 seconds right to the web. It has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 4GB SSD of internal memory and WiFi connectivity. Under the hood there's a WiFi (no 3G), an accelerometer and about 5 hours of battery life.
Ports are minimal -- one USB 2.0 input, one power input, and some audio / headset jacks and it supports Flash so you can play HD videos from YouTube . External keyboard, mice, and headset are supported via USB and Bluetooth
The addition of a new text-entry option allowing you to display a smaller keyboard designed for one-handed operation, which can be dragged around to avoid interfering with content. There’s an option for a larger virtual keyboard for two-hand typing as well. The home screen is a series of large shortcuts and a side bar for settings, search, and the ever-vigilant timekeeper.
Getting back to the screen is a simple matter of pinching when you're in a browser window -- and be sure to keep that in mind, pinching does not in this case zoom out. Pinching from home screen takes you to a series of open tabs you can skim through before you make a final pick.
The JooJoo runs its own custom operating system, and it’ll be difficult for Fusion Garage to persuade developers to code apps for a device with a relatively small user base.
You can pre-order one now for $499.00 US.
