Why I hate the Apple iPad.
The iPad has been the number one hardware tech news story of 2010! No surprise there! The iPad is also insanely popular with hundreds of thousands of people waiting for it to arrive in their countries.
So why do I hate it? I don't!
I love the iPad because it is so damn good. I am even considering making another website just focusing on the iPad. Maybe not, there are enough iPad blogs already.
The problem is it so much better than the Kindle, Sony Readers, Nook and other competitors that it might just wipe out the dedicated e-Reader industry and make my website redundant. The iPad accepts Amazon and Barnes and Noble Books so you don't have to decide plus they have their own library and hundreds of book store apps that will be happy to sell you ebooks.
Did I mention the iPad also plays video, MP3s, photos, allows internet access, plays games and almost everything a laptop computer can do. e-Book Readers don't do any of these stuff and if they do it, they do it poorly.
PS - I found this website which offers unlimited bestseller ebooks for the iPad and if you want to check it out, Click here

Will Publishers Be Crying Over
The Death Of Print Media?
Many newspapers and magazines are struggling these days partly because of the recession but mostly because of all the free news and blogs online. As many as half of all newspaper readership is now online and I predict that as tablet PCs like the iPad or e-Readers like the Que, Skiff, DX and E101 become popular, most of the educated classes will be reading digitalized news instead of on newsprint. How will publishers adapt to the changes? By the way this photo is a fake with photoshop editing, it was so awesome that I had to squeeze it in.

Asus DR-570 & DR-9 e-Readers
Asus is known for making quality computers, laptops, netbooks and accessories so we are expecting some well designed e-Readers when they come out in mid 2010.
Asus new 6 inch OLED color screen e-Reader (DR-570) looks interesting because reports say it will run for 122 hours on one charge, and is capable of running Flash video over a Wi-Fi or 3G connection.

Endless Ideas BeBook Neo
The 6" e-ink Neo is next generation Wi-Fi enabled BeBook which addresses the main shortcoming of the original BeBook, which could only take downloads with a USB cable.
Another improvement is the addition of the WACOM annotation & note taking feature, otherwise it has similar specs as the first BeBook. On the other hand, theNeo looks and feels much like it's competitor the Onyx Boox. (below)

The Onyx Boox 60 e-Reader
The 6" Onyx Boox, despite it's unusual name, can do everything the BeBook Neo can since they have the same specifications.
Boox's WICOM screen scribble feature lets you search, annotate, highlight and input text with a stylus pen easily that simulates real handwriting experience. Boox does everything a normal Wi-Fi e-ink Reader will do - two week battery life & sharp, easy to read displays.

Super Thin Skiff is here
The Hearst Skiff Reader plans to come out swinging with a large 11.5-inch size and a high 1200 x 1600 pixel screen resolution, powered by 3G Sprint.
It will also be on the svelte side at just over a quarter-inch thick and just over a pound — the thinnest e-Reader on the market to date. The Skiff Reader is also notable for using an entirely new technology to power its display. Unlike the glass screens that are the hallmarks of the current generation of e-Reader devices, the Skiff uses a flexible display based on a thin sheet of stainless-steel foil.

LG's Newspaper e-Reader to make newsprint obsolete?
January 12, 2010 - LG recently unveiled a flexible e-ink display that is about the size of a newspaper and is only 0.3 mm think . The new display is made from a flexible e-paper that gives the user the feeling of reader a real newspaper.
The screen is able to achieve this remarkable thinness and flexibility because it’s backed by a metal foil rather than glass substrate. this metal foil allows the device to flex and then return to its original form while remaining durable. while this 19 inch model is merely a prototype, LG has stated that they will release a smaller 11.5 inch model this year. this technology could change the whole e-reader sector, offering flexible displays along with more traditional rigid models.

Spring Design's Alex at CES 2010
The e-Reader that is said to have been the inspiration for the Nook was showcased by Spring Design at the CES.
It’s a dual-screen system running Android, similar to the nook, with a 3.5″ color LCD on the bottom and 6″ EPD electronic ink screen on the top. Very simple design with only four navigation buttons and a sync button to show ebooks or websites on both screens.

13.1" Color Touchscreen e-Reader!
From mobime.net, Jan 27, 2010 Taiwan's Delta Electronics plans to start marketing a new 13.1-inch color touchscreen e-reader and an 8.1-inch monochrome touchscreen device around the end of the second quarter, which use e-paper technology from Japan's Bridgestone.
The launch of Delta's products will move Bridgestone's technology center stage in the battle over e-paper technology. Bridgestone, known more for its tire business, showed the 13.1-inch e-paper technology off last year. The device was designed to be the size of regular piece of A4 paper so it could be used in place of business documents.
